TAMARA ROMEO

Founder and CEO San Diego Office Design

Tamara Romeo is Founder and CEO of San Diego Office Design. Her unique expertise and impressive track record have earned her the moniker of “The Design Boss.” Prior to the world of cool offices created for Google, Facebook and Zappos, Romeo had a vision of shaping the world of workplace design for the San Diego business community. Her goal was to create well-branded, culture-centric workplaces that not only looked amazing but attracted and retained talent. Her style and “one-stop shop” approach gained followers and clients from local, national and international businesses.

Branching out from purely office design to create show-stopping environments for places of worship, theater and event spaces, fitness centers and other large-scale venues helped to capture the attention of local real estate development teams. ANN SHELTON

Vice President Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects

Ann Shelton, Vice President, Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects, is a valued firm leader, skilled at overseeing the planning, programming and development of architectural designs and coordination of construction documents. She has a balance of knowledge between interior and architectural design to smoothly integrate projects from design phases into construction. Her attention to beautiful and functional design, efficient project delivery and ability to tackle tough challenges head-on make her an excellent principal. Shelton has expertise in designing for the municipal, life science and corporate market sectors. She recently played an integral part for the buildout of Muse at Torrey Pines, a 186,000-square-foot life science campus redevelopment. She is also leading the design team for numerous local life science conversions and tenant improvements. Her work has received awards from multiple local, state and national organizations. Shelton received a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from San Diego State University. She is a Certified Interior Designer (CID).

JILL RUSSELL-LAYMAN

Principal ID Studios, Inc.

Jill Russell-Layman, Principal at ID Studios, Inc., embraced the spirit of adventure and relocated from Seattle to San Diego to take advantage of the many outdoor activities found here. She graduated from the Design Institute of San Diego with a BFA in Interior Design and joined ID Studios in 2006, one year after its inception. She is a Certified Interior Designer (CID) in California and with the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Russell-Layman participates in the day-to-day business operations of the firm and directs some of its most significant projects. She developed the firm's internship program and has mentored dozens of interns, even helping many find their first jobs. She's participated in numerous charity events over the years such as the IIDA Fashion Show, WeCARE and Tables for Tots. She's been a member of many organizations such as IIDA, CREW and NAIOP and is currently a member of the SDHR forum.

SARAH SINDIAN

Associate Principal KTGY

Sarah Sindian, associate principal, KTGY, has managed a variety of projects from single-family dwellings to high-density podium buildings and urban infill developments. With work extending from Southern California to Northern California, she understands the complexities associated with differing regions and jurisdictions. Sindian's portfolio includes many successfully built projects that have benefited from her dedication, client relations and problem-solving skills.

As an architect, Sindian offers an understanding of the project development process that is critical to executing a project from design development through construction documents. She is committed to carrying out a project that meets code compliance, while refining the design in the process and maintaining original design intent. Her belief that successful projects are the result of team collaboration helps her excel in fulfilling client needs, on time and within budget. ANGELA RYAN

CID, NCIDQ Director, Interior Architecture and Design Ware Malcomb

Angela Ryan, Director, Interior Architecture and Design at Ware Malcomb, possesses 16 years of architecture and interior design experience. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Design from the University of Missouri in Columbia. In 2016, she joined Ware Malcomb's San Diego office. Her promotion to Director, Interior Architecture & Design came in 2019. Since joining the firm, Ryan has led over 500 projects for Ware Malcomb's San Diego office. She manages the firm's third-largest Interior Architecture & Design Studio out of the company's 27-office platform spread across the Americas. Her experience includes a variety of project types including office, healthcare, education and hospitality projects. Ryan holds certifications from the California Council for Interior Design – Commercial Designation (CID-C), the Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC), and the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). MEGAN SKAALEN

Workplace Studio Leader SmithGroup San Diego

Megan Skaalen serves as the Workplace Studio Leader at SmithGroup San Diego, one of the nation's leading integrated architectural, engineering and design firms. In her role, Skaalen is responsible for developing and maintaining authentic relationships that expand opportunities and strengthen the firm's growing presence in the greater San Diego area. Skaalen has dedicated her career to creating solutions that equally serve her respective owner, developer and end user clients. Skaalen graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego. She is a Certified Interior Designer in California.

AMANDA SCHULTZ

Amanda Schultz, Executive Vice President, Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects, is a multifaceted architect with 16 years of experience specializing in life science, higher education, municipal and hospitality, leading design teams that deliver $50 million in construction annually. Key clients include Healthpeak, Exact Sciences, La Jolla Institute, San Diego State University, Coachella Valley Water District and the County of San Diego. Schultz is passionate about sustainable design, lean construction and high-performance teaming.

She has managed 10 design-build projects in the last 10 years, totaling $1.8 billion in construction. She has also delivered $60 million and 300,000 square feet of LEED Silver, Gold, Platinum and zero energy buildings with an additional $43 million and 125,000 square feet on the books; most notably for the County of San Diego Alpine Library, the first county-owned building that received LEED Gold Certification and ZNE Certification through the Living Building Challenge. She is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Founder and Principal Anne Sneed Architectural Interiors

Anne Sneed, founder and principal of Anne Sneed Architectural Interiors in Del Mar, has a vast array of experience and projects within the design space. The team thoughtfully develops projects through broad planning concepts, harmonious finish selections and engaging details. Gracious, livable, light and open spaces are the hallmark elements of the firm's designs. The firm's work has been featured in the August 2021 issue of Architectural Digest as well as in many other regional and national media outlets. Notable is a bank interior design in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood that took advantage of waterfront views.

Multi-award winning over different applications of commercial and residential design, Sneed and her team are tremendously talented yet humble. The Anne Sneed team works with clients to create innovative spaces which manifest their ideals and respect their constraints.
